Let the Spirit Move You.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. And this journey of four inversions compressed into a half-mile pile of twisted steel begins with a launch—a very fast launch. Poltergeist’s cutting edge linear induction motor launch system will get you from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 3.5 seconds. That’ll get your spirit moving!

That blazing fast launch also means you won’t need to climb up any long lift hills to get into the action. You will simply be pulsed into the middle of the excitement pretty much instantly, so try to brace yourself for this one-of-a-kind maximum twist experience before you even plunk down in your seat.

Poltergeist is laid out in a rare and wonderful “spaghetti bowl” design. The track is literally draped and piled on top of itself with such dense complexity you won’t believe they can fit a roller coaster train through there, let alone one moving at 60 mph—but Poltergeist will make a believer out of you.

Without any pauses or braking, you’ll blast through a cobra roll, a sidewinder loop, a downward spiral, a corkscrew, and countless swift reversals in between. Spaghetti bowl is right—this course is a mouthful. In fact, it’s the most complex roadmap you’ll find in all of Six Flags. But don’t let that spook you, because this is a must-ride for any serious roller coastering resume.

This launch coaster is one of the most celebrated coasters in the world, but you might not know that it is also the premier residence in the park for angry and disillusioned spirits.

Hovering underneath — for reasons nobody can explain — are the ghosts of those who’ve suffered unspeakable endings from all over the world. These spirits are lonely, frustrated, and bitter about being left behind — that’s why the ride is called Poltergeist! Their mission is to bring others into the mud pit of misery they call home.

From the back seat, they reach out. Their ghoulish touch rips an arm from its socket, with an unnatural jerk and unbearable pain. The vehicle twists and careens on the track, and at each turn more riders disappear, until at the end none are left.

What drives these lost and crazed spirits? Perhaps the thrill of new residents makes their horrible world more bearable. Hopefully, we’ll never know, and we’ll do everything in our power to remain ignorant.

The minimum height requirement for Poltergeist is 54″.
